Hi there!!
I am an avid organic gardener living in Sydney, Australia. I think that there needs to be much more community engagement in the importance of gardening in your homes, regardless of where you live. We are moving into an era where food security will be an issue of concern much more than in the past. Organic gardening is the most natural, holistic and renewable means of growing fruit and vegetable for your family.
So if you are interested in starting your own garden, introducing your family and friends to more organic methods of gardening then this channel will be perfect in helping you grow your own :)

Grow your own Vanilla Bean Orchid - 100 years for vanilla?
Hi All!
I'm so excited to share with you my latest and most prized addition, a Vanilla bean plant. In this video, you'll learn why it took nearly 100 years for vanilla to be produced in Europe, how many types of vanilla bean and if you can grow your own vanilla. It may be a few years before I have my own pod, but I'll be sure to stick around and show you when (or if) it does flower.
Till next time.

Tomato garden FAIL - what I learnt
Переглядів 1195 років тому
Hey all!! So, my summer garden didn't go exactly as planned. I faced alot of issues this summer and even my neighbour got a horrible harvest this year. My area has high winds (which I wasn't prepared for) and we got 2 hails storms in the span of a week as well as fruit flies (I never had this in my old area). Next year I'm going to be much more prepared!!

I love it 😻 ❤❤
OAH MY GOODNESS GET TO THE POINT🥴🥴
Huh it's been 3 years since you made this video. We need an update. 😊
Any updates on the vanilla orchid?
What happening after three years now beautiful ❤ would you feed as with results also all details of your journey within
Very helpful! my quails have been acting differently ever since we introuduced a new female. i realized they didnt have enough space, but we sorted that, and made it 1ft longer! :) (we have 5 japanese quails)
Any updates? Able to show us pollination by hands, m8? Or did you eat the pods?
Did you get any flowers? Any updates?
❤❤❤
It’s been a couple of years I hope we get an update 🥺
are you single ?
I wondered why vanilla extract seemed expensive, then I saw a video of how it is grown in Madagascar, and the fact that it takes over a year, needs expert care, is only hand pollinated, is risky with some crops lost….wondered why it was so cheap.
beautiful!
Jusst found your channel, please make more videos.
Awesome! Very informative. Any update on your progress? Thank for the awesome vid!
Nice video but if you're going to put a video with the title growing your own vanilla bean it should be about that and not about the history of the vanilla bean I'm just saying you wasted the entire video
Is that weed in the back?
Now I know why it's easier for them to use beaver butt AKA natural flavor than Vanilla beans! that's crazy.
Hello! Excellent topic and video! Is there a follow up coming!?
Got disctracted with the beauty of the narrator ...
I’m growing vanilla bean orchids inside under LED lights and they are doing great. I figured it out. I keep them in pots inside giant ziplock bags which keeps the humidity high. I’m growing them in Yacolt Washington near the volcano Mt. St. Helens.
@Ernie H I was backpacking near the mountain and Spirit Lake in August before the mountain blew. It was beautiful, hot and we would have been killed if the mountain had erupted while we were there. I’m glad I got to experience it before it erupted because it will never be like that again in my lifetime.
Seattle here; apartment dweller; looking to grow these and ginger together in an oversized (55 gal) aquarium space. Ginger in a potting soil pot; vanilla orchid in an orchid chip based pot. Likelihood of success?
@@MagesseT1 I live south of you in Yacolt Washington. I just started growing vanilla bean orchids and they are doing great. I put them in a large 5 gallon ziplock bag open just a bit to keep humidity up and the cuttings are growing like crazy. I bought 12 cuttings. New growth all over.
@@MagesseT1 the humidity needs to be high for the orchids to be healthy and grow. Mine are growing like crazy here in southern Washington state.
I am also in Washington, may I know where did you purchase the vanilla?
do I need to grow a bee colony to produce vanilla
I guess this her last vid.
hand pollination only
Do you sell live quail in Sydney?
You tell your size of private part by hand?
It's very informative for me as a chef thank you so much garden girl
I want to plant a lemon tree specifically so that I can see more of these caterpillars/butterflies, they're so very cute!
If you want to really ramp up your production of cuttings, take single-node cuttings from green stems. Tea works very well with this, and you can get a ton of cuttings.
Great Video. Havent seen any videos in a while. More Quail & Chicken Videos. Happy Gardening.
Hi I just purchased my vanilla orchid from same nursery and researching information about vanilla plant care I came across your channel. Thank you for the information.
Host plant name of this butterfly Please reply
Hello pretty
😂🤣 to grow a plant u just have to buy it online 😂😂
I want to learn everything is that wrong
In Madagascar they hand-pollinate
Yo thank you for the info variety of vanilla beans where they grow didn't know that there was even different types of bees that would pollinate specifics
I only just found your channel and love it! Do you have any updates on the vanilla vine and garden? Hope you're well :)
I bought a plant and it is rotting I’m trying to salvage the parts that are still alive
Please how do I get vanilla to plant I'm in Nigeria
Madagascar has it. Raw dried pods, they're not cheap.
the music in the background was a little too much
Please get rid of the snare drum audio track 🤕
Wow. . . Such a lengthy growth and harvest time. . . So grateful for vanilla 🙏🙏🌱
Hi Thank you for your video, which state in Australia are you? I couldn’t find it in Bunnings NSW
Joondalup in Perth
arent you a beautiful looking fruit yourself :)
😂😂😂 yas
hey thanks for the video. I have a question what about feeding them black soldier maggots ?
its hard to grow
I just bought a heat mat, followed you instructions as the weather in Canberra is cold. Subscribed to your channel and goods to see some Australian gardening advise on Utube. Thank you for a very well explained tutorial.
Hi, how are you going? Ive bought my first vanilla plant from a garden centre and have it growing in my bathroom.
Hi it has been about a year since you left this comment and I am just curious how is your vanilla plant now?
@@LarimarP Growing well. I repotted it into a larger ceramic pot and mist it regularly (keeps the climbing roots hydrated) I tried spelling it during summer but no flowers yet. I bought another plant from bunnings about a year after this one but haven't repotted it yet and it seams to be growing slower.
Idk anything about this and I am always antropomorphizing like every ignorant human, but I can't help but feel a visceral sadness when seeing those cute feather balls stuffed into that small box in your yard. And it's even bigger than the recommended space. :/
